I joined Checkmate Fire Solutions in 1997 on a subcontract basis installing passive fire protection systems. During a 10 year period I also learned to install fire curtains and structural steel protection using various types of fire rated boards and intumescent coatings. Towards the end of this period I was given a supervisor role on larger contracts awarded to Checkmate. In 2007 I was offered the role of Contacts Manager which involved site surveys, quoting all aspects of fire protection works, Health & Safety, procuring materials, sourcing labour, Quality Assurance, training and running contracts from start to completion.

Strange but True
On deciding to learn to snowboard, rather than using the dry slope facilities in the UK, I decided to travel to Queenstown, New Zealand to live and work for 6 months during the winter season. A truly amazing experience!
