Trainee Passive Fire Engineer

From your first day, you will have the help and support of your Fire Protection Engineer (Trainer) who is also your line manager. He/she will also support your development as you settle into the business and your go to person if you need advice or support in your role. Our Operations Manager/s, Contracts Managers, Supervisors and Compliance Manager will also work with you to provide support to the installation and technical aspects of the job.

The most important part of your role is that you are developing to ensure competency and skill in the installation of fire protection/fire door works, health and safety and product quality.

What you will be doing:

You will be supported in developing all aspects of the below to become a competent and skilled Passive Fire Engineer.

  • To carry out installation and/or survey of fire stopping/compartmentation works and/or new fire door installations/fire door remedial works to a compliant standard
  • Learn safe working site practices and develop a safety first attitude
  • Learn the safe installation and use of access equipment
    Learn the safe use of hand and power tools
  • Gain an understanding of material performance and correct installation
  • Become competent in the use of Boris recording software
  • Learn the Checkmate Way with regards safety and quality processes and procedures
  • Developing customer facing skills
  • Understanding requirements from available documentation such as fire strategy drawings and fire risk assessments

What you’ll have:

Experience:

  • Experience in a trade, preferably joinery or dry lining

Qualifications:

You will be trained towards the following qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Passive Fire Protection
  • ASFP Level 1
  • CSCS - Skilled worker 
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Asbestos Awareness
