Why your job is important to us:
Doing your job brilliantly means using your energy, knowledge, enthusiasm and most importantly your commercial expertise to price and win profitable works.
From your first day, you will have the help and support of your line manager. He/she will also support your development as you settle into the business and will be your go-to person if you need advice or support in your role.
You will also report to our Head of Estimating / Chief Development Manager who will support you on a day-to-day level. You will also work very closely with the Operations Managers (Business Unit Leaders) who will provide operational assistance to support your pricing
The most important part of your role is pricing and help win profitable contracts
What you will be doing:
What you do and how you do it will be supported through the Checkmate Way manual and tasks will include;
✓ Pricing all new enquiries allocated to you and providing support on larger bid reviews
✓ Liaising with clients to understand the scope
✓ Site visits and pre-contract meetings as required
✓ Liaising with operational staff to understand the costs associated with delivering the project
✓ Providing the operational teams with clear scope and budget parameters to assist with the profitable delivery of contracts
✓ Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing
✓ Liaising with clients to resolve quotation queries
✓ Developing a menu of prices for an ‘automated’ response to small work pricing
What you’ll have:
✓ Pricing of passive fire and fire door works desirable but not essential
✓ Pricing of construction works and construction pricing models
✓ Microsoft office proficiency
✓ Estimating qualificantions or equivalent to HND standard
✓ Friendly and client-facing
✓ Strong numeric and literacy skills
✓ Team player

This is a full-time role based in our Harlow office 3 days per week and home-based 2 days per week.
Knowledge of pricing of passive fire and fire door works is desirable but not essential.
